These are books I've read, used and been inspired by, buying them through Amazon and the links on this page does help support this site.
Complete Origami. This has been one of my favorite origami books since the year it came out. It's a big volume with more then just paper folding, it's got some mathmatical theory, and a bit of history on other types of folding. It's a great book for beginner folders because it explains very well how to follow a diagram, but it's also got lots of diagrams for more challenging models. If you are a scrapbooker, the tape folded flowers are so pretty! Not exclusively an origami book, it's a book of folding.
Hands down, my favorite origami book. I've replaced my copy a couple times after being silly enough to loan it out. It's filled with some great functional models like boxes, some challenging models, and models easy enough that my daughter was doing them at 5. This is the book I gave my husband when he wanted to try origami, and he enjoyed it. My copy is filled with origami paper in pages for models I tried but couldn't quite get, and sometimes when I'm without any ideas at all, I open it up to one of those models, and try it again.
This book is exactly that. For absolute beginners.Mr. Robinson told me in an email a few years ago he wasn't really happy with the layout of it, but it's still a great book and one I'm happy I have. The models are simple and elegant and progress nicely as you learn to fold. My favorite for crafting is the butterflies on the cover, they are easy, fairly forgiving (which a lot of models aren't) and look gorgeous made out of pages from magazines. You can see his work at his website and he also has some great and functional free models there. Nick Robinson's Origami Page. I like functional models, and his little wallet is another favorite of mine.
Fun book with lots of information and techniques. There are book making books I like more, but this one has great information in it, plus ideas for decorating and creating unique covers. I'll be adding more books as I re-read the ones I have and decide again which are my favorites.
